BBC Sound Of 2018 Number 5 Is…

Hiya! So today the fifth place of the BBC Sound Of Award 2018 was announced to be Pale Waves! I think they are deserved fifth place winners and are one of my favourite new obsessions (a little hint to one their singles!). To listen to their latest single My Obsession, click below…

In the early 2010’s a chance encounter between lead singer Heather Baron-Gracie and drummer Ciara Doran in a liquor lead to them becoming best friends and forming a band, after two working on songs. After recruiting bassist Charlie Wood and guitarist Hugo Silvani they began to form their sound, and in 2015 been posting demos online.

Their hard work obviously paid off because they attracted attention from Dirty Hit, the record label owned by none other than Matty Healy form The 1975!!! In 2017 they released their debut There’s A Honey, which I fell in love with! It was so unusual and although it had a slight hint of The 1975 (it was produced by them though) it was also completely unique.

If you want any more information about the BBC Sound Of Award or the 2018 longlist you can check out this previous post of mine.

I hope you keep posted for the next 3 runners up and the winner of the award. Let me know your thoughts on the music and my post in the comments section below.

Guitar girl signing off xx
